Business Week has named ING Direct one of the World’s most innovative companies for its high interest savings accounts.  It is nice to see ING Direct acknowledged for its ING orange savings account.  The ING orange account and ING electric orange account have revolutionized the banking industry.

Prior to ING Direct, online banking was something that traditional brick and mortar banks offered for you to monitor your accounts.  However, with the release of the ING orange account, ING Direct created viable competitive high interest savings accounts that could compete with traditional banks.  Since the launch of these ING accounts, many companies like HSBC and Washington Mutual have also created online high interest savings accounts.  I believe that ING Direct deserves to be on this list.
