A long awaited change has finally been made by ING Direct.  ING Direct has converted its long username information over to friendly login names.  This is a much needed change by ING Direct and I applaud them for making it.

Prior to this change ING Online Savings Account customers had to enter an eight digit customer number.  With the switch to user friendly logins, ING Direct depositors can now create their own custom usernames.

Online banks need to keep making it easier for customers to use their services.  In addition to the high interest savings accounts, people use online banks for their convenience.  No one wants to have to drive to the bank between 9:00 - 4:00 pm anymore.  People want the convenience of being able to do their banking on their own time.  This change by ING Direct is a great example of how online banks can gain more market share.  By focusing on the online customer experience, more and more people will convert to online banking.  And they should.  The ING Direct Online Savings Accounts are great.
