Finding a savings account with interest has never been easier.  With the creation of the Internet, we have a lot more choices in who we bank with.  No longer are we restricted to choosing between one or two banks within our home towns.  No the Internet has given us the ability to find the best rates savings account currently available.  And, we need to be using the Internet to find our high interest rates savings account.

There are so many resources on the Internet that we can use to find a savings account with interest.  Finding the best saving account can be as easy as searching Google for savings account high interest.  Now I am not suggesting that you only use Google.  Nope.  I have an idea, you can keep coming back to Smart Savings 101 to find a best rates savings account.

For example, one of our last articles on Smart Savings 101 described the savings account ING is offering.  The ING Direct savings account might not be the highest interest rates savings account, but it is one of the best savings accounts.  The savings account ING sells is extremely convenient and has a pretty high interest rate savings APY.

But don’t just look at one high interest rate banking offering.  You need to do a savings account comparison.  Search the Internet for as many online savings accounts and brick and mortar bank savings accounts as you can.  Banks are constantly changing their offerings.  This is good for us consumers.  Banking is now a competitive market and we are the beneficiaries of this competition.

Why do banks offer a savings account with interest?  To answer this question you need to understand how banks make money.  Traditionally, banks make money by borrowing money from you in the form of a high interest rate savings account, and then re-loaning that money to borrowers at an even higher interest rate.  As long as the banks can charge more to lend money than they have to pay to borrow money they are making a profit.  Today, however, banks are making tons of money off of bankings fees and charges too, but I will save that for another post.

So, I hope that this article on finding a savings account with interest has sparked your motivating to go out and do your research on find a high interest savings account.  With the Internet at our disposal, there is no reason why we can’t find the best rates savings account.
